Karen’s early years in country NSW are filled with memories of unconfined spaces, fruit trees and the Australian bush.
Her university studies in architecture included an inspirational time in Denmark, where Karen vividly recalls the irresistible aroma of the bakeries as she cycled home each day.
In her late twenties, alongside her partner Dom, she embarked on an Australian road trip, eventually settling in Sydney’s Blue Mountains where Gingerbread Folk was born.
Now, twenty four years later, Karen enjoys the juggle of business, family, and her love of the outdoors. Kindness to the planet and all beings are her guiding lights.
Dom grew up in the English countryside. Armed with a sense of adventure and a sack of fresh biscuits, he spent much of his childhood outside forming a strong connection to nature.
When his family moved to Australia, this metamorphosed into a passion for all things marine with weekends spent snorkelling.
Completing a degree in marine biology, he enjoyed his time working and skin diving in the magical waters of Heron Island on the Great Barrier Reef.
In 2008, Dom joined the Gingerbread Folk family full time and embraced his love for all things sweet. When he isn't taste testing he can be found buried under a pile of natural history books.
